Police raided 1500 homes in their biggest operation against burglars in May. The raids were an extension of the London based Operation Bumblebee and involved 5000 police offers, from twenty-two forces. 911 people were arrested or cautioned and had DNA samples taken which will be used to build the national DNA database that was set up in April. The Association of Police Officers (ACPO) have said that 135,000 people are expected to be logged into the database by the end of the year.
