Sheffield: Yemeni community outraged by court decision
artdoc June=1991

Members of Sheffield's Yemeni community are calling for a
review of the decision of Sheffield Crown Court to drop a
charge of manslaughter against two white men who racially
abused and assaulted an elderly Yemeni man. Shortly after the
attack, 66 year-old Mr. Musa Mohammed Saleh died of a heart
attack.
Following their arrest, the two white men pleaded guilty
to affray and were sentenced to a maximum three years
imprisonment. Commenting on Mr Saleh's death, the chairman of
the Yemeni Community Association in Sheffield said, `Had this
been a white man or a police officer, one wonders what the
decision (of the court) would have been.' (Star Sheffield
