According to an article published in Secrets, the journal of
the Campaign for Freedom of Information, coroners are
seriously impeding the investigations of safety researchers
by denying them important information. Coroners have
interfered with researchers access to information regarding
fatal domestic accidents, platform safety on the London
Underground, suicides of remand prisoners, and construction
industry deaths. Researchers believe that these coroners
used their position to withhold or release information in an
`extraordinarily illogical way.' (Guardian 2.1.91)
