RACISM AND THE POLICE - THE MAKING OF A MYTH

A J P Waddington
Police Oct 1982 15(2) 18,20-21

Discusses the Church of England 's Board for Social
Responsibility report entitled 'Race and Crime' which appears to
be based on the Metropolitan Police press release in March 1982.
It is argued that this paper is in fact an attack on the police
for distorting figures on ethnic crime. Furthermore it is stated
that notwithstanding the medias sensationalisation of it, that
the disproportionate involvement of black people in street crime
was still the real issue.
