It is widely held that battered women receive insufficient
protection from the police and police perceptions of such
women are studied using data from studies in the United States.
Looks particularly at views about women's willingness to
press charges, their reasons for remaining in violent
situations, the class bias of battering, and the place
of domestic disputes in `real' policing. 36 references
