Liverpool police chief angers black community
artdoc April=1992

Black groups in Liverpool are considering taking legal action
against a top police officer who was quoted in the Sunday
Correspondent insinuating that black community leaders could be
drugs dealers. `I would not rule out the involvement of some of
the black politicians with those involved in drug dealing... half
the so-called community leaders don't even live in Toxteth. They
just have their mistresses there,' Superintendent Bernard Keegan
is reported as saying. Journalist Kate Muir sticks by this story,
although Superintendent Keegan alleges that he has been
misquoted. (Voice 14.8.90)
