Interrogation methods reappraised
artdoc July=1991

The Association of Chief Police Officers recently announced
its plan to launch a three year project aimed at improving
police skills and their interrogation methods.
Superintendent Tom Williamson of the Metropolitan police
and Chairman of the working group that came up with the plan
said that the project was intended to teach officers, `ethical
approaches to interviewing at all levels from probationary
constables to senior management.' The plan comes in the wake
of public opinion polls revealing widespread public concern
over police interrogation methods. (Guardian 13.12.90)
