Black pupils suspended
artdoc July=1991

Two Welsh teenagers who were the victims of racial abuse
from white pupils have been suspended from school.
Michael and Anthony Essan were sent home from South
Wirral High School, Cheshire, after a fight with two other
pupils. Their mother believes the boys were ruthlessly
intimidated and abused by fellow students and is planning to
take their case to the Commission for Racial Equality. She
said, `My sons have been the victims of racial abuse since
they joined last September. They took all they could until
they were forced to hit back.' (Today 1.2.91)
