Dismal showing for far-Right in Euro-elections

The far-Right in the UK averaged under 2 per cent of the vote in
the fourteen seats it contested in the June Euro-elections. The
most successful far-Right candidate was the New Britain Party's,
Melvyn Rendell, who collected 11,044 votes (5.65% of the total
poll) in the Cotswolds (Jewish Chronicle 17.6.94).

Asian youth clash with police in Rotherham

A racist attack by a gang of white youths armed with baseball
bats on an Asian cab driver at a petrol station in Rotherham was
followed by confrontation over two nights between police and
Asians. The Asians were angry that the white youths were allowed
to get away, while Asians who had come to help the cab driver
were arrested. An impromptu march to the police station was
called and over 21 people were arrested over the two nights of
violence. A local councillor has called for an investigation into
the problems faced by Rotherham's Asian community (Star 1.7.94,
CARF no. 22).
