Emphasises the differences in social class attitudes
towards the police and discusses the factors which can lead
from the traditional consensus model of policing to the
military variety seen recently in parts of Britain. Explores
the contradictions inherent in a state which claims to abide
by the rule of law and act in the interests of all citizens
but manifestly does not.
