Statement of changes in immigration rules

The Home Secretary has, with effect from 22nd January 1992, made
the changes hereinafter stated in the rules laid down by him as
to the practice to be followed in the administration of the
Immigration Act 1971 for regulating entry into and the stay of
persons in the United Kingdom and contained in the statement laid
before Parliament on 23rd March 1990 (HC 25 1), as amended.*

The following shall be substituted for the Appendix of the said
statement:


COUNTRIES OR TERRITORIAL ENTITIES WHOSE NATIONALS OR
CITIZENS NEED VISAS FOR THE UNITED KINGDOM

Except

(a) those who qualify for admission to the United Kingdom
as returning residents in accordance with paragraph 58:
and

(b) those who seek leave to enter the United Kingdom
within the period of their earlier leave unless that
leave:

(i) was for a period of six months or
less; or
(ii) was extended by statutory
instrument."

The amending statements were laid before or presented to
Parliament on 26th March 1991 (HC 320), 17th April 1991 (HC
356), 30th September 1991 (Cm 1672) and 18th October 1991 (HC
670).
