Prosecutions for anti-Semitic literature to go ahead
artdoc July=1991

Attorney General Sir Patrick Mayhew has granted permission
for prosecution to proceed against two people for
disseminating anti-Semitic literature.
The prosecutions are the first of their kind under the
1986 Public Order Act which makes it illegal to distribute
literature that is threatening, abusive, or intended to
provoke racial hatred. There are currently 16 police
enquiries underway into anti-Semitic incidents. (Times
21.1.91; Guardian 22.1.91)
