Police officers debate firearms
artdoc July=1991

Officers across the country are said to be pressing both for
the return of the death penalty for those who kill policemen
and for the police to be permanently armed. The Police Review
magazine are carrying out a survey of police opinion and the
issues are to be debated at the Police Federation Annual
Conference.
Meanwhile, Scotland Yard have announced that a decision
as to whether to increase regular armed mobile police patrols
in the capital will be made in January. (Times 24.12.90; Daily
Mail 28.12.90).
