The number of Roman Catholics in the Royal Ulster Constabulary
(RUC) is 7.78% (653), a figure that has remained more or less
static since statistics on the religious composition of the force
were first collected in 1990. One hundred and eighty nine (5.94%)
members of the RUC full-time reserve are Catholic and there are
56 (3.89%) part-time reservists. Hansard 26.1.92.
