Malta to adopt freedom of information
artdoc December=1991

Malta is likely to become the fourth Commonwealth country to
adopt freedom of information legislation. The others are
Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
Malta, a British dependency until 1964, has an Official Secrets
Ordinance passed in 1923 which is almost identical to the old
Section 2 of the UK Official Secrets Act 1911. In the past 78
years there have been no prosecution in Malta for leaking
official information.
