Various reports and comment on the riots. Kenneth Oxford,
Merseyside Chief Constable, is to head an inquiry into the
serious injuries caused by CS gas shells in Toxteth. Birmingham
magistrates have ordered parents of three teenagers arrested
for rioting to keep their children off the street at night or
face fines. Milton Shulman discusses the effects of portraying
violence on television.
