Immigration in Brief- Spain: Contracting illegal migrants no crime without exploitation:
01 March 2003
Lérida Criminal Court has absolved a businessman who contracted unregularised migrants and who failed to register them in the Social Security system. The court considered that this cannot be considered a criminal offence, unless there is proof that the workers were exploited. The prosecutor had asked for an 18-year prison sentence for the defendant.
