Liberian refugee dies following Munich police raid

The public prosecutor in Munich is investigating the death of a
Liberian refugee, Sammy Nelson, after a police raid on a refugee
hostel.
The police say that during the police raid the refugee
swallowed a condom filled with heroin. The condom cracked in his
body on the way to the hospital. But other witnesses say that
the police took Nelson into a room where they beat him so
violently that he begun to bleed (lunge Welt 2.2.95).

Frankfurt police strip-searched Roma woman

A Roma woman, who went to the police station to report a theft
and ended up being strip-searched and roughed up by the police,
says the Frankfurt-based Roma Union is considering legal action
against the officers involved in the incident.
When Agnieszka Pawlowska went to the police station to
report 700 marks missing from her purse, the police officers
refused to believe her story and interrogated her as to her
living conditions.

When she tried to leave the station, she was grabbed by the hair
by three officers and strip-searched before being allowed to
leave (Romnews, No 28, 2.1.95).

Police raids

Raids by 154 police led to the arrest of more than 45 asylum-
seekers in Hamburg, accused of being illegals (Frankfurter
Rundschau 7.1.95).
