Examines the development of the police training response in this
area - the diagnosis of need, the forms of training used and the
experience of an independent support unit at Brunel University.
Suggests that such programmes cannot be effective unless cast as
part of an equal opportunities framework. Considers the obstacles
to be tackled to implement successful policies. 51 references.
