Attack on black woman in Abbey Wood
artdoc May=1991

An attack on a four-months pregnant black woman by two white men has led
her to miscarry. Jaqueline Joseph, a former winner of the Miss Big and
Beautiful contest, and her boyfriend Denham were sitting in a pub in
Abbey Wood, South London, when two white men assaulted them, kicking
Denham and punching Jaqueline in the stomach. The two attackers
reportedly said to two police officers `They're only black - it doesn't
matter anyway'. The men, who had previous convictions, have been
sentenced consecutively to two and a half years and 33 months in jail.
