Research for the Safety Not Surveillance coalition
In cooperation with Open Rights Group and the Safety Not Surveillance coalition, this project aims to:
- Secure robust, people-centric AI regulation in the UK through: A united voice of civil society and minoritised communities calling for a ban on data-driven “predictive” and risk assessment systems for policing and immigration, and meaningful safeguards for all other uses of AI in policing, national security and migration;
- Ensure a solid evidence-base for change that makes visible the harms inflicted by existing and proposed uses of AI, drawn from lived experience, knowledge exchange with our EU partners, and new research into the public-private cooperation underpinning uses of AI in policing and immigration;
- Contribute to groundswell opposition to the most harmful uses of AI in policing and immigration.
