Brook House detention centre inquiry: G4S submits evidence to committee

The evidence says that six members of staff have been fired following "investigations into staff conduct shown in the broadcast," and that "specialist consultancy Verita has been commissioned to carry out an independent review to understand the extent and root causes of the treatment of detainees at Brook House."
According to G4S, the "key objective" of the multinational corporation (which is one of the largest private sector employers in the world) is "to continue to ensure that detainees are safe at Brook House."
Parliament's Home Affairs Committee launched an investigation into Brook House after the Panorama investigation revealed "endemic drug-taking (both Spice and cannabis); under-staffing; bullying amongst staff and detainees; allegations of assault, racial abuse and mocking of detainees by G4S staff, cases of self-harm and attempted suicide amongst detainees; failure to report incidents of C&R (control and restraint) or refusal to eat."
