EU: EU states want visas reintroduced for Balkan countries

Germany and five other EU states want the European Commission to allow the reintroduction of visas for people coming from the Balkans so as to curb soaring asylum requests, the European Commission said Monday.

Also: Serbia offers to pay costs of 'fake' asylum-seekers (euractiv, link) In an attempt to avoid the re-introduction of visas for Serbian nationals travelling to the Schengen area, Belgrade said it was ready to pay Western countries for the extra cost incurred by "fake asylum seekers" on their territory.
