EU: Council of the European Union: Proposal for a Joint Police Operation EUROCAR (pdf). A new EU-wide policing operation is planned for September 2011. See: Final report on Joint Police Operation AUTOMOTOR (pdf): Two-day operation with 17 Member States: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the United Kingdom, Estonia, the Netherlands, Finland, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Germany, Italy, Spain, Slovakia and Hungary, as well as candidate country Croatia. This involved 21,636 officers and resulted in checking (controlling): motor vehicles: 150,484, people 156,510 and checking 154,022 documents. The number of "hits"/results were: motor vehicles:145; persons: 123; and concerning documents: 34. In addition at the external borders 112,341 controls were carried out, which resulted in 62 "hits"/results.
