The Irish government yesterday passed amendments to the Criminal Justice (Terrorist Offences) Bill 2002 which will give the Garda (Police) Commissioner the power to issue a 'data retention request' to fixed and mobile operators in Ireland requiring the retention of traffic and location data for 3 years: The debate (link) See Privacy International coverage (link)
