Mr Harry Barnes asked the Secretary of State for Northern
Ireland how many people have been sentenced to life
imprisonment in Northern Ireland since 1970 on
terrorist-related offences; and what were their paramilitary
affiliations at the time of conviction.

Dr Mawhinney, Minister of State said that since 1970, 580
persons have been sentenced to life imprisonment for terrorist
offences. At the time of conviction their paramilitary,
affiliation was as follows:


PIRA 223
OIRA 11
INLA 85
UVF 140
UDA/UFF 106
Other Loyalists 15
