Seminar: "Call for an Open Europe: views from civil society on access to EU documents, 27 February
The European Federation of Journalists and Statewatch are organising a working seminar on the new code of access to EU documents on Tuesday 27 February in the European Parliament in Brussels.
The three EU institutions - the Council of the European Union (the governments), the European Commission and the European Parliament - have to agree a new code of access by May. At the moment the drafts on the table from each of them is very different and time is running out.
The seminar is intended to allow the voice of the "fourth partner" in the discussion - civil society - to be heard.
Speakers include: the Chair of the Committee on Citizens Freedoms and Rights, the Swedish Presidency of the EU, the European Commission, rapporteurs from the European Parliament, European Federation of Journalists, Statewatch, European Citizen Action Service, European Environmental Bureau and Bankwatch.
