Entry into force 25 June 2009, following ratification by all of the first 15 Member States all of the newer Member States have also ratified: Convention
Status no replacements or amendments proposed
Court of Justice Twelve of the ‘old’ Member States to ratify the Convention (all except UK, Greece and France) have given jurisdiction to the Court; ten of them give jurisdiction to all national courts or tribunals to send references (Ireland and Spain allow only final courts to refer); eight of the new Member States have given jurisdiction to the Court (Bulgaria, Lithuania, Estonia, Hungary and the Czech Republic allow all courts and tribunals to refer; Slovenia, Slovakia and Latvia allow final courts to refer); Poland will make a declaration regarding the Court’s jurisdiction later
