The 'Permanent Representatives Committee' (COREPER) meets 100-150 times per year
to prepare decisions accross all policy areas for the EU Council of Ministers. COREPER
meets in two formations: COREPER I, comprised of ‘deputies’, and
COREPER II, comprised of the national Ambassadors. JHA policy is usually dealt with in COREPER II.
The 'Article 36 Committee' (which refers to Article 36 TEU) meets on a monthly basis. It oversees the Council working parties dealing with police cooperation and criminal law.
