Background replaces a Protocol amending Schengen Convention in 1997, which did not enter into force before entry into force of the Treaty of Amsterdam and was not designated as forming part of the Schengen acquis
Schengen builds on Schengen acquis
Flexibility Schengen states will take part, along with UK (see clause 7 of preamble)
EP plenary vote in favour without committee report, 14 June 2000 (OJ 2001 C 67/149)
Council adopted as ‘A’ Point by JHA Council, 28 Sep. 2000: Decision 2000/586/JHA
