Institute of Race Relations launches "IRR news network"

The Institute of Race Relations has today (26 November 2002) launched "IRR news network":

"What is the IRR news network?

We aim to provide professionals in the voluntary sector, activists, students and interested individuals with a rich and dynamic news and information resource on race and refugee issues in the UK and the rest of Europe. We also aim to act as a gateway, providing easy access to related organisations through an online database.

The main areas which we seek to cover are: Government policy, Policing and criminal justice system, Violence and harassment, Asylum seekers and refugees, Education, Media, Employment, Extreme-Right politics, Immigration law, Housing, Health and Sport.

We freely distribute our news stories via the web and through emails, which our users can customise to control the subject area and geographical area which they are interested in, as well as the frequency of emails. This unique feature allows users to receive only the information they need and avoids the problems of information overload often encountered on the internet. We also supply other websites with live feeds to IRR news. In order to provide this service, we have developed a network of partners across the UK and the rest of Europe in a range of sectors.

The IRR news network is a project of the Institute of Race Relations (IRR), based in London. Funding has been provided by the Community Fund."
