EU amends lists of terrorist organisations

On 18 June the Council of the European Union (the 15 EU governments) adopted by "written procedure" (the text is simply circulated and agreed unless there is any objection) two updated lists of individuals and organisations whose funds and assets are to be frozen under anti-terrorist measures.

On the list of individuals and groups outside the EU the number of individuals (8) remains the same, but the number of proscribed groups has risen from 12 to 20. The new groups include: the Palestine liberation Front (PLF), the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFL) and the Revolutionary Armed Forces fof Colombia (FARC).

On the list of individuals and groups acting inside the EU the number of individuals has dropped by one to 35 while the number of proscribed groups has risen from 23 to 31 including the activities of the three above groups.
